“Season” is upon us!
We are now what we call "season" here in SW Florida and that really means two things: Our fishing opportunities are fantastic and our area population has tripled with those trying to escape the arctic cold that has crippled the greater part of the northern half of the country. Now that a few solid cold fronts are behind us, we are starting to see solid catches of keeper sized speckled trout and the smaller silver trout are showing up more and more daily. The snook can still be caught, but we venture back in the woods to get them as they have retreated for warmer bathing water in the backcountry. The redfish are still going well, but can be day to day and you definitely need cooperating tides on the shallow estuary that we primarily fish. Sheepshead and black drum are also showing up in good numbers and in another 6-8 weeks, the first signs of migratory tarpon should start rolling in provided the winter is mild for us and the bait pods show up. So what are you waiting for?! Book that trip today! Tight lines and good fishing until I see you on the water!
