Recap….and what’s next….
The first FLW BFL tournament in the Gator division certainly could have gone better for me, but it certainly could have been worse....I finished in 84th place out of 142, so I need a few top 20 finishes this year to get me inside the top 50 so I can qualify for the Regional tournament in October. Fished with a GREAT guy, Earl on Saturday...lots of laughs and I learned a few new things about the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes which will come in play down the road for me, so not all was bad. Next up for me is the FLW American Fishing Series Southeast Division opener on Lake Okeechobee. This is a 3 day tournament, where all participants fish Thursday and Friday and then the top 10 after 2 days, go on to fish on Saturday for all the marbles. As much as I would love to win it all and the $15k that goes with it, I would be very happy cashing a check in this event as the level of competition is fierce with some of the best bass fisherman in the country come down to Florida for this event. I would also like to congratulate Kevin VanDam for winning the Bassmaster's Classic, the Super Bowl of bass fishing, this past weekend. The guy is simply the best in our sport and beating him is like being paired up with Tiger on Sunday...put him close to winning it and he just turns it on.
