FLW BFL Gator Division- Tournament 5, Lake Okeechobee

Well, the finale is finally upon us. The fifth and final tournament of the FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Lake Okeechobee Sept. 11-12 for the Gator Division’s two-day Super Tournament. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $11,000 and $4,500, respectively. Takeoffs and weigh-ins will be at C. Scott Driver Park located at 10100 W. Highway 78 in Okeechobee, Fla. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. each day while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public. The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings following the tournament will qualify for a regional championship where boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Yamaha outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX. I am currently sitting in 46th place and need a decent showing here to qualify for the Regional Tournament on Lake Seminole in mid-October. The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the FLW American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour. I’ll be sure to report back on Monday with my results….tight lines and good fishing.
