Brrrrrr….

The cold fronts continue their endless barrage on SW Florida which is making the fishing difficult, but not impossible. It seems we can’t sustain a 7 day stretch of normal weather, without a cold front coming through and changing the fishing conditions. The accompanying strong NNW winds can adversely affect the incoming tides as well as the incoming water is actually “held up” by the strong winds. That all being said, you just have to hunker down and go fishing and we have been concentrating on slowing down the presentations and working deeper pockets and holes while finding the warmest water we can. Trout, pompano and reds are less affected by the drops in water temperatures so that has been the cold front plan. Tarpon are being spotted as the water temps reach over 70 degrees, but the big spring migration of silver kings has yet to show due to the fluctuating water temps. A couple weeks of sustained mid 70’s water temps should get them showing themselves pretty quick.
