Mixed Father’s Day Bag….
Fun week loaded with charters, pre-fishing and competing in our 11th tournament of the year....busy times here! We fished the Backwater Series Red Gator Challenge Tournament out of Calusa Island Marina in Goodland this past Saturday and my partner, Capt Ivan Garza and I, finished just outside the money. Each team had to bring their best 2 legal redfish and 2 legal trout to the weigh in stage and while we had a nice bag, we had quite a few boats within a pound of us and it really pushed us down the standings. We're excited to get it done next month at the Redfish Duel though....redemption! Today, we had Jim and his son Jake down from New York out on a Father's Day charter and we had a nice time despite the howling NE winds, a broken Power Pole spike and some tough fishing conditions. We still managed a solid redfish, some jacks, ladyfish and the ever present catfish. Tomorrow will be an office day along with getting the boat over to the great folks over at Calusa Island Marina to take a look at the Power Pole and they'll get us fixed up really fast so we can get back out on the water Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday this week! Until next time, tight lines and screaming drags!
