Hello 2011….

Poseidon's Choice kicked off the new year right, as I had the pleasure of spending a short, couple hours on the water with one of my best friends of almost 20 years, Bill Collopy and his family…..Jenn, Sarah, Ally and lil’ Billy. Our quick, late morning trip began with a short run to the "volcanoes" area of Estero Bay for some redfish and we were kindly greeted with an un-relenting 20 mph SE wind which made fishing conditions extremely tough. Despite the winds, we managed a half dozen bites and boated 4 fish on our first spot, with Billy catching his first ever fish, a nice solid redfish. He caught this one all by himself, with no assistance....pretty impressive! We moved spots and fished the west wall in a small cut that was holding fish the day before. Sarah got us started with the biggest redfish of the day just 10 minutes on our new spot. Ally followed with her third redfish of the day and after a few more bites, the bite simply shut down. I have to tell you, that I have fished nearly all my life and have shared a boat with many people of all skill levels. This family picked up the basics of fishing unbelievably quick and were making casts to spots that several of my repeat clients could not make! I was impressed! All in all a fun couple of hours with close friends and their family and I look forward to sharing a boat with the Collopy family on future trips.
