2011 Tournament Update…

February 17, 2011 - Posted by Steve Dall My 2011 tournament season was off to a great start this year with a great 11th place finish at the FLW Everstart Series, Southeastern Division opener on Lake Okeechobee back in January, along with my 41st place finish at the FLW Tour Level Tournament on the same body of water in February. Both tournaments gave a ton of confidence for the new year and allowed me to walk home with 2 really nice paychecks, for which I am grateful. I fished the FLW BFL tournament last Saturday and while I had caught a limit, it wasn’t enough to put me in the money and it got me thinking. Why fish for $3,000 when I can be fishing for $30,000? So, that in mind, I spoke with the folks at FLW and signed up for the balance of the Everstart Southeastern tournaments because after finishing in 11th place out of 160, I am in great contention for Angler of the Year with 3 tournaments to go and a great shot at fishing the Everstart Championship on Kentucky Lake in October…..certainly a bigger reward, but a much stiffer competition as these guys are all pro to semi-pro anglers and not the weekend warriors that the BFL generally draws. Don’t get me wrong, the FLW BFL Gator division may have some of the best fishermen in the country, but as much fun as I have catching them, I love to compete and aspire to do it full time someday soon, so at some point, I have to make the jump in to the big leagues if you will. Fishing the Everstart Series will be a great springboard for me, both fishing wise and in networking with potential title sponsors. The financial commitment will be steep, but the rewards are certainly there. Tight Lines...
